“You are the light of the world, like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14 (NLT)
Every generation needs the role model, someone whose life points the way. But here’s the truth: you cannot influence a world that doesn’t know you exist.
You cannot stay hidden and expect people to follow your example. Influence requires visibility.
In Matthew 5:15, Jesus said no one lights a lamp and then hides it under a basket. The light was made to shine, to guide, and to inspire. In the same way, you were not created to stay in the shadows. God wants you to be seen, not for personal glory, but so that your life can reflect His glory.
When people see your good works, they glorify your Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16).
Jesus Himself modeled this. In Luke 5, He borrowed Peter’s boat and used the water as an amplifier so that the crowd could hear Him clearly. He understood the power of positioning. If the Son of God leveraged visibility to reach people, then so must we.
At Daystar, we believe every believer is a mega star, called to shine the light of Christ in their field, on their platforms, and in their communities. Today, that includes leveraging social media and other digital spaces. The world is watching, and God is counting on you to represent Him well.
But here’s the balance: before you step into visibility, make sure you carry light. Don’t just seek to be seen; seek to shine. Visibility without value is just noise. But when you walk in God’s wisdom, character, and purpose, your visibility becomes a beacon of hope for others.
So stop “winking in the dark.” The role model is not the one who hides their gifts, but the one who lets their light shine boldly for the glory of God. Stand where people can see you. Speak where people can hear you. Live in such a way that when others look at you, they see Jesus.
You are the light of your generation.
It’s time to be the role model the world is waiting for.
