In our previously held Mid-week service, we learnt that we are to Unleash our God-given gifts and discover our purpose. We are expected to identify, grow, and use our spiritual talents to glorify God and impact lives.
Many believers sit on untapped potential, unsure of how to activate the treasures God placed inside them. But Romans 11:29 reminds us, “The gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” This means God never changes His mind about you, what He deposited in you is permanent, purposeful, and powerful.
Discovering the Universal and Specific Call
There are two dimensions of your divine assignment:
- The universal call: God calls all believers to seek justice, love mercy (Isaiah 1:17), preach the gospel (Mark 16:15), and represent Him (1 Peter 2:9).
- The specific call: Each of us is uniquely wired for a distinct purpose, like Jeremiah and Moses. God custom-fits your life experiences, skills, and personality to align with your divine assignment.
Your Gifts Should Match Your Current Capacity
The parable of the talents in Matthew 25 shows that God entrusts gifts according to our ability to manage. When you grow your capacity, you qualify for more. Don’t return to God what He gave you. When you walk in your purpose, heaven celebrates and people around you are blessed.
You must use the gifts you’ve been given. The servant who buried his talent was labelled wicked and lazy, not for stealing, but for doing nothing. Just like money loses value over time, so do unused gifts. Activate the gifts God has invested in you. Get trained. Join a unit. Start where you are.
