Marriage Is Good III

In a world where opinions about relationships change every season, the Bible still speaks with clarity: Marriage is Good. That was the heart of Sunday’s message from 1 Corinthians 7:1–9 (NLT). The goal was not to pressure everyone into marriage, nor to diminish singleness, but to help us see marriage through God’s lens rather than culture’s noise.

One of the most freeing reminders was this: don’t fixate on what’s not working.

Many people spend so much time comparing their lives, relationships, finances, or timelines that they lose sight of God’s wisdom. Romans 12:2 calls believers to resist being squeezed into the world’s pattern and to be transformed by renewing the mind. When culture creates pressure, the answer is not panic; it is returning to God’s Word.

The sermon acknowledged a reality many couples face: financial stress can place enormous strain on a marriage. In fact, some people begin married life already burdened by debt from trying to impress others with a wedding they cannot afford. The challenge was simple and practical: build a marriage, not just an event.

Marriage is not a competition. It is a covenant.

If God leads you into marriage, trust Him enough to walk wisely, not recklessly.

Singleness is not a failure. Paul describes celibacy as a gift, and not everyone has that gift. Some are called to marriage; others may serve God fruitfully while single.

For husbands, leadership was defined less by control and more by vision, direction, and responsibility. A leader is not automatically the smartest person in the room. Healthy leadership listens, values gifts, and creates space for others to flourish. The purpose of leadership is not to produce followers, but to help people grow.

For both spouses, the foundation remains love. Not feelings alone, but the Christ-like commitment that seeks the good of the other person. Love makes room for service, forgiveness, patience, and teamwork.
