What if I told you that doing business is not just for CEOs and entrepreneurs but for anyone seeking God’s breakthrough?
In 2 Kings 4:1-7, we meet a widow in deep distress. Her husband was gone. Creditors were coming. She had nothing… or so she thought.
Until the prophet asked her: “What do you have in your house?”
Her answer? A small jar of oil.
His response? Go, borrow vessels. Fill them. Then sell your oil.
That was her divine instruction for doing business.
We often pray for miracles and overlook the resources in our hands. But God works with what you already have. That gift, skill, idea, or passion? That’s your oil.
Doing business begins not when you get funding, but when you get clarity. And clarity comes from God’s voice.
When the widow followed the prophetic instruction to sell her oil, debt was cancelled, and her family was restored. Your miracle could be waiting on your next business move.
Let’s be clear: doing business is godly.
- Doing business is stewardship.
- Doing business is obedience.
- Doing business is provision.
- Doing business is influence.
- Doing business is legacy.
God didn’t rain money from heaven—He gave a strategy. That strategy was entrepreneurship.
The oil didn’t multiply just so she could have more. It multiplied so she could do business. Blessing comes when we circulate value.
Some people receive divine ideas and do nothing. Fear. Doubt. Perfectionism. But if the widow didn’t act, her sons would’ve been taken.
You can’t afford to sit on your oil.
If God gave you an idea, it’s time to package it, price it, promote it. Sell your oil.
Because doing business is how heaven meets earth.
3 Divine Lessons for Doing Business
- Sell your oil – Don’t hide your value. Add value, serve, and exchange it.
- Pay your debts – Financial integrity is spiritual integrity.
- Live on the rest – Build sustainability. Budget, save, and grow.
This is not just finance. It’s faith in action.
Say it with me: Doing business is a calling.
Whether you’re in tech, fashion, food, or ministry, your oil matters. It solves problems, blesses lives, and positions you for influence.
So today, God’s word to you is clear: Do business. Sell your oil. Prosper with purpose.
You’re not waiting on a miracle. You’re holding one.
Start pouring.
