Called to do Good. Goodness is in your nature, if you are born again, it is in your nature to do good because God is good. (Matthew 12:33-36 NLT)
If you are not doing good, you need to check your heart, what are you meditating on? Are you meditating on wickedness? On discrimination? These are the only reasons you wouldn’t manifest goodness.
Not doing good amounts to frustrating the God nature within you, a believer is a good person by nature. When you become born again, you become born of God. This is what Jesus and Nicodemus discussed in John chapter 3. Show that you are born of God through your speech, your conduct and your charity.
…Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.(1 Timothy 4:12NLT)
Here are some things we can use to show goodness:
- Show goodness through speech: (Luke 4:18NLT) You have to show that you are a believer through your speech. We can manifest God’s goodness in us through preaching the good news. It was while Jesus was preaching the good news that He did signs and wonders.
It takes the good news to set people free from the power of sin. The first means of doing good is preaching it, many people are hopeless because they are not in God, take out time to spread the good news that ‘Jesus saves’. Spread the good news about opportunities as well. (Mark 16:20NLT)
- Show goodness through your behaviour or character: Your character reflects who you really are. You can’t display bad character and say you are doing good. A thief who steals money and gives it to the poor is still a thief. If the people with God’s nature are busy doing good the way they should, the likelihood that the people suffering would need bad people to help them would be slim. Our conduct must show goodness and act in a way that helps people.
