At Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, Daystar Christian Centre hosted a thought-provoking panel discussion on “Citizen’s Role in Nation-Building.” The session emphasized that the Nigeria we see today is a reflection of the choices and actions of its people.
Panelists included Bemisola Adenuga, Tunde Ehsan, and Omotola Oluri stressed that citizen participation is the foundation of democracy. From voting to advocacy, from personal responsibility to professional integrity, every action contributes to shaping the nation’s future.
Bemisola noted that , “Democracy is for the people, by the people, and to the people. But if citizens neglect their role, decisions will still be made, and we all live with the outcome.”
Omotola added that nation-building goes beyond politics. It is reflected in how we live daily, how professionals serve with integrity, and how young people embrace responsibility instead of giving up hope.
Tunde reminded us that Nigeria’s problems are man-made and can be solved by citizens who choose to act. “Stand up, fight, and build the Nigeria of your dreams. Don’t complain , get involved.”
The discussion reinforced that citizens are the supreme office in democracy. Whether through voting, policy engagement, or community action, Nigerians must actively participate to drive sustainable progress.
The future is not left to politicians alone, it rests in the hands of every citizen. Building Nigeria requires collective effort. Watch the full video here.
