Keep Your Body for Resurrection

Keep Your Body for Resurrection | Ultimate Resurrection

1 Corinthians 6:12-20 (NLT)

We cannot talk about resurrection without talking about the body. Something has to be raised, which is the body.

God is interested in our body, and that body will be raised. 1 John 4:1-3 (NLT)

Resurrection of the dead is not fiction. It’s as real as our existence.

3 Forms of Resurrection:

  1. Bodily Resurrection: is when someone who died physically is brought back to life. (1 Kings 17:17-24, 2 Kings 4:8-37, John 11:
  2. Resurrection of the Saints: (1 Thessalonians 4:10-16, NIV). The dead in Christ will be raised to life. It’s not everyone who died in this life that will be resurrected, except for the saints.
  3. The Ultimate Resurrection: This will happen after the coming of Christ and before the final judgement. At this point, both the righteous and the unrighteous will experience the ultimate resurrection. The righteous will rise to be with Jesus christ, the unrighteous will rise unto condemnation and be perished.

Jesus, the Son of the living God is the only one that has experienced the ultimate resurrection. He was raised and never to die again. That’s why He’s called the first fruit of those who have died. 1 Corinthians 15: 20 (NIV)

Jesus is the only One who has the power to raise again those who are asleep in righteousness.

As christians, whatever we do in this part of eternity must be done with done with the consciousness of the life after resurrection.

The human body is not evil, God is interested in our body as well as He is in our Spirit. We have a call and responsibility to prepare our body for resurrection.

1 Corinthians 6:13 (NLT). The body is for the Lord and the Lord is for the body.

Our body is the earth-suit that helps us to live on earth and it houses the Spirit of God, so we can’t afford to use it anyhow.

Our body is the dwelling place of the Spirit of God. It’s God’s property. We are not allowed to use it anyhow.

Jesus purchased our body from the hands of sin the devil, and He did it with His own precious blood. (Ephesians 1:7, NIV). He purchased with His blood so as to reconcile us to God.

“You were God’s expensive purchase, paid for with tears of blood, so by all means, then, use your body to bring glory to God!”

1 Corinthians 6:20 (TPT)

We are not permitted to use our body anyhow because God is coming to raise us up, just the same way He raised Jesus up from the dead. 1 Corinthians 6:14 (NLT).

At the ultimate resurrection, only those who honoured God with their body will be raised to eternal life, while those who did not honour God with their body on earth will be raised to eternal condemnation.

It’s either you keep your body and enjoy eternal life with Christ, or you use your body anyhow and get into eternal damnation with the devil. The choice is yours, and the best time to make that choice is now.
