Lead Differently 3

Lead Differently 3. We have established clearly this month that a Jesus follower must lead differently. Our world is in desperate need of good leadership right now and we believe the followers of Jesus Christ should produce the highest quality leadership in the world. We have the great commission where Jesus said to go into the world and teach all nations. When we look closely at the great commission, it is a leadership mandate. (Matthew 28:19-20MSG)

It’s in your destiny in Christ to be a trainer, mentor and influencer of others; that’s why Christ said, “You are the light of the world’. In God’s provision, you are not meant to leave people the way you left them. The Great Commission is way more than just getting people born again. We used to think it was just about getting people to be saved and be free from their sins. Though that is the starting point, that’s not all there is to it. It’s about mentoring people in God’s way of life. Remember how Christ described leadership outside of God’s system

So Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them. (Mark 10:42NLT)

This is the basic system in our world, people dominate the weak, leaders take as much as they can for themselves. It is a system driven by selfishness and greed. (1 Samuel 8:10-21MSG). Most of us have been raised on a heavy diet of this leadership system that is built on self-centeredness and greed and we need to get it out of our system. How did Christ do that for his disciples? He washed their feet and that killed the domineering version of leadership in them. The way you are led is the way you will lead. Many people in leadership today don’t have feelings, they don’t care about the poor or the suffering because no one cared about them as as well.

The way we break the cycle of selfish, greedy leadership is by serving people and loving them sacrificially. It’s time for us to break the cycle of pain and hunger and selfishness that enriches a few and impoverishes masses. It’s time to embrace the cycle of Christ.
