Marriage Is Good (2)

In a world where marriage is often misunderstood, God’s Word still remains true: marriage is good. During the Marriage, Singleness and Self-Control series, Pastor Bolu Oluyomi reminded believers that marriage is a beautiful institution created by God for companionship, growth, and purpose.

From 1 Corinthians 7:1–2, Pastor Bolu explained that because God created marriage, it is inherently good. While many people have experienced unhealthy relationships or painful family backgrounds, those experiences do not change God’s design. Marriage succeeds when approached with humility, love, and wisdom.

One reason marriage is important is because it provides healthy sexual fulfillment within God’s plan. Couples were encouraged to communicate openly about their needs and seek help when necessary instead of suffering in silence.

Marriage also plays a major role in raising godly children and building stable families. Malachi 2:15 reveals that God desires “godly children” from marriage unions. Strong families help shape responsible individuals who positively influence society.

Beyond parenting, marriage offers companionship and partnership. Ecclesiastes 4:9 says, “Two are better than one.” Marriage gives couples the opportunity to support one another through life’s challenges and build together with shared strength and purpose.

Pastor Bolu also emphasized that marriage is a platform to demonstrate Christ-like love, love that is patient, sacrificial, forgiving, and selfless. However, because marriages face spiritual challenges, believers must remain rooted in God’s Word and dependent on the Holy Spirit for wisdom and strength.

Marriage is good, not because it is perfect, but because God is at the center of it. Watch the full sermon here.
