The Effects of Being In a Covenant Relationship With God. Being in covenant with God changes who you are, it changes your status because you and God become 1. Pastor Sam previously had drawn an analogy of blood covenant from marriage. Marriage makes two people become 1, Ephesians 5:29-32NLT. We and Christ are one just as it happens in a marriage. When we are married, individual problems and resources become shared. When we are one with Christ, He is obligated to take care of us (Galatians 2:20 NKJV).
In Genesis 15, Abraham asked God about the promises He had given him. Abraham was asking for one child but God gave Him so much more. This is what happens when we come into oneness with God, we can’t think small. God and Abraham broke through the barrier of barrenness together, because God stepped in so whatever could not hold God, could not hold Abraham. This is the promise of our oneness with God. Stop thinking only about what you have and what you can see, when you become one with God you have resources at your disposal that you cant see because what belongs to God belongs to you. Who would have thought that a dry rod would bud and bring fruit. Who would have thought that a shepherds staff would become a tool of deliverance for an entire nation. Who would have thought that 5 loaves and 2 fish would feed a congregation. All these things could only be possible through God.
