Did your know that you can build a Business Empire by using what you already have. At Mid-week service Pastor Grace Ofili shared key highlights on starting small, obeying divine instructions, and scaling with faith.
A Sermon by Pastor Grace Ofili from Daystar Christian Centre Doing Business Series. The message is a wake-up call. It reminds us that what we need to start our next chapter isn’t outside of us, it’s already within our reach. Here are keynote from the sermon that you can learn from:
1. God Starts With What You Have, Not What You Lack:
When the prophet Elisha encountered the widow (2 Kings 4), his first question was, “How can I help you?” But before she could respond, he asked, “What do you have in your house?”
At first, she said “nothing…” But then she remembered, “except a small jar of oil.” That “except” was the game-changer.
God never starts with your lack. He begins with your what you have.
2. Stop Romanticizing Poverty and Demonizing Wealth:
Pastor Grace talked about the long-held misconception that wealth is ungodly. Misinterpretations of the scripture have led many Christians to believe that being poor is a virtue. It’s not.
Abraham, David, Job, and Solomon were all wealthy and blessed by God. The rich man in Luke 16 didn’t go to hell because of wealth, and Lazarus didn’t go to heaven because of poverty. We are not called to survive. We are called to thrive and multiply. Wealth, when built on obedience and stewardship, becomes a tool for Kingdom impact.
3. Your Oil Is Scalable, Start Pouring:
That small jar of oil didn’t multiply until the widow started pouring. Your skill or side hustle may seem small today, but with structure, action, and divine obedience, it can grow into something massive.
Whether it’s soap-making, fashion design, or consulting, what you have is enough to start. God blesses the obedient pouring, not stored potential.
4. Surroundings Are Resources (Don’t Ignore Relationships):
Some of the “oil” in your life may be intangible: your community, friendships, and connections. Don’t abuse or neglect them. A relationship you’re ignoring could be your bridge to breakthrough. Restore peace with that neighbor, family member, or colleague.
They may be the divine connector to your next level.
5. Obedience Unlocks Abundance:
God’s instruction to “go, sell, pay your debt, and live on the rest” wasn’t just about survival. It was about establishing a business model. You can’t keep running to the prophet. You must become the solution. Obedience is the secret to abundance.
As Pastor Grace Ofili reminded us that whatever we need for the next level is not far, it’s already within us.
Don’t despise your small beginnings. The oil in your house is enough to pay your debts and build generational wealth. So what do you have in your hand?
It’s time to stop waiting and start pouring. Remember, God doesn’t need what you don’t have. He will multiply what you already have.
