The Witness 3

The Witness 3. Something interesting happened the day Absalom died, Absalom was one of David’s sons and David loved him a lot, but he rebelled against the king and a battle ensued. David instructed his soldiers not to kill Absalom, but they did and then the question was, who would break the news to the king. 2 Samuel 18:19-21 NLT.
When the commander turned to the right person he wanted to send he didn’t tell him what to say, he only told them to tell the king what they had seen.

When King David asked Ahimaaz what the fate of his son Absalom was, Ahimaaz couldn’t give an accurate answer and the King told him to step aside. If you claim to have seen what you did not see, when asked for details, your story will come apart. When you start witnessing, the Devil will come at you and try to discredit you. Be sure that what you are witnessing to is what you experienced. Take the seven sons of Sceva for example (Acts 19:13-16) they were going around casting out demons in the name of Jesus Christ that Paul preached. They were third hand witnesses, they didn’t experience Christ directly and then they came across a demon that challenged them.

…the evil spirit replied, “I know Jesus, and I know Paul, but who are you?” Then the man with the evil spirit leaped on them, overpowered them, and attacked them with such violence that they fled from the house, naked and battered.

When the other witness arrived and told King David the fate of his son Absalom, not only did he know what to say, he also had the wisdom to know how to say it. As someone that has experienced Christ, when you say what you have experienced, you get the wisdom on how to say it. Luke 21:14-15.

In a law court, when a Prosecutor calls their witness to the stand, the Defense attorney cross-examines the witness and tries to poke holes in the witness story to prove to the court that that witness is not reliable. This is what the devil does to us as well, he tries to poke holes in our story and make you feel like you are not worthy of being a carrier of the good news. The only thing that qualifies you to tell people that Jesus loves them and wants to forgive their sins is for you to have received forgiveness yourself. You are not qualified to share your story because you are Holy, you are qualified because Christ made a sacrifice on the cross and forgave your sins. You don’t owe the devil anything anymore, he has nothing on you, you have a clean slate.
