When life seems heavy, or if you feel like there’s little to be merry about, simply praise and say, “Thank you, Jesus.” It may seem simple, but those words are powerful. For it is in the act of giving thanks, even in the tough times, that we find the strength to face our challenges.
As you reflect on the Christmas season, let it be a time to remember the true reason for the season, Jesus Christ. It is a time to bask in heavenly joy, lift your voice in unrestrained praise, and thank God for His gift of peace and salvation.
Praise allows us to acknowledge God’s goodness, and it is in that acknowledgment that we gain strength.
The Birth of Christ and Unrestricted Praise
Several factors trigger unrestricted praise to God.
- The Birth of Christ Provoked Great Joy: The arrival of Jesus was met with jubilation, and that joy continues to be felt today. His birth marked the moment when peace with God became possible.
- Peace with God: Through Christ, we now have peace with God. John 14:27 assures us of the peace Jesus brought into our lives, peace that remains even in troubled times. This peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of God in our lives.
- Victory in Times of Trouble: Christ’s birth assures us that no matter what we face, God is with us, and we can find victory in Him. In every storm, His peace remains steady.
Sharing the good news of Jesus also increases your praise to God.
God’s peace is a powerful force that helps us overcome circumstances that are beyond our understanding. Although we may not know what tomorrow holds, we can rest assured that the One who holds tomorrow is with us. This peace is not contingent on our circumstances, but on His presence in our lives.
Christmas is a reminder that peace with God has been secured. We no longer stand at odds with our Creator, but we can enjoy a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ.
Joy is contagious. As you encounter others this season, especially those who may be feeling down or troubled, share the good news of Jesus Christ. By doing so, you bring praise to God, and you bring peace to others. Even if you don’t have a physical gift to give, the message of Christ is the best gift you can offer.
