God’s word works wonders, and it works salvation. The word of God is always working. The word of God is productive and effective.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
~ Genesis 1:1-3 (NLT)
This passage shows us the contradiction to God’s ultimate plans and purposes. The earth was formless, and there was darkness, but this wasn’t what God wanted to see.
When God was faced with contradiction, He simply said, “Let there be Light.”
God’s word changed the situation that of hopelessness, and created a new reality. In the face of contradiction, God contradicted contradictions with his word.
Same with our saviour, Jesus Christ, when He was confronted with a dead Lazarus, He spoke words to bring him back to life (John 11:43 NLT)
There should come a time when we speak to change situations, because as Christians, we are not called to speak reality but are called to speak revelation.
The reality might not be good, it could be a contradiction or an opposition to the perfect will of God.
The question for you is, “Are you speaking things the devil wants you to speak, or are you speaking to manifest the perfect will of God?”
In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach – (Romans 10:8)
The word of God is not far from you, it is on your lips, it’s in your heart. You have not been called to conform but to transform.
The word of faith is right in your mouth to bring forth outstanding results in your life.
David and Goliath
We will recall how Goliath terrorized the soldiers of Israel for 40 days. He bragged that he just needs one person that would fight him – 1 Samuel 17:41 (NLT)
- Goliath engaged his words to create fear in the heart of the David. His words had effect on the others because they were trembling in fear, (1 Samuel 17:45 – 48). David replied with words in the name of God.
- Don’t let the devil have the last say over your circumstance. Just as David did, “speak the word of God” replace the fear with faith. Remember the word of God is a sword of the spirit.
- Don’t run away from the problem. Speak that word as you confront that giant. The word of God is the arrow that pierces through the attacks of the enemy.
Beloved of God, learn to fight the battle with the word of God. The enemy only comes to kill, steal, and to destroy and I pray that he will not steal your much fruit season in Jesus name.
The encouragement from this sermon is to fill your heart with God’s word, because you only speak of what is in your heart.
