Well, this doesn’t even scratch the surface. ‘Are you a duck?’ was a question that helped one of the speakers at the conference reject a wrong label in her formative years. You really should listen to the full message for context.
Her story reminded me of my high school days and how we were quick to label teachers whose leadership style was counter-culture. I’m sure you can relate too. However, what I realized in retrospect is that those teachers were the ones who helped to inculcate good values in us.
It is almost a given that when you choose to lead differently, the world will label you.
Should it stop you?
Definitely not! If anything, it should fuel your desire not to compromise. Remember, every time you choose to go counter-culture, you are changing the narrative and creating the mind shift that we so desperately need in our world today.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think. Then you will learn from your own experience how his ways will really satisfy you. (Romans 12 : 2 TLB)
