Leadership is our mandate, when God created man, the intent was for man to take charge, and be responsible for all His creations. Leadership is about taking responsibility and influencing. When Jesus called His disciples, He told them that their destination was to lead people. (Genesis 2:28 NLT, Genesis 3:9 NLT). Leadership can happen in any location and every situation. Wherever you are located or whatever circumstances you have found yourself in, lead from there.
When David was a fugitive running from King Saul, he led a group of discontented rebels. Even if you are surrounded by disgruntled people, if that is where you find yourself, lead there. (1 Samuel 22:1-2 NLT). David influenced the group of disgruntled men to change from being discontented people to mighty men. That is leadership in action. Leadership turns things around and that is why God is sending you to lead where you are.
Joseph led in prison and ended up becoming a political leader. While in the prison he demonstrated leadership skills that were so topnotch that wherever he went they left him to run things.
One of the things you should gain from these stories is that He that is faithful in little is faithful in much. Another thing to note is that you don’t have to wait till you have the position before you lead. Moses was a fugitive but he led a nation of slaves through the wisdom and direction of God. He ended 430 years of slavery, leading the people towards the promised land. Moses was in a bad situation, he had lost everything, lost his zeal but God took him and used him to stop the slavery of the Israelites.
You need to take the initiative and make the move to lead where you are. Lead in your community, in your school, in your family.
