We all have to answer this question; Can I trust God with my love story?
If you are frustrated, in need of reassurance, or beginning to wonder if Christ-centered love stories still exist in today’s modern age of heartbreak, hook-ups, and divorce, this is for you!
The fact that so many Christians are reluctant to truly give God the pen and allow Him to write their love stories is one of the reasons, in my opinion, why we don’t frequently see God-scripted or God-centered love stories in our contemporary Christian society.
We’re afraid to give Him control over this area of our lives because we’ve either heard from others that He isn’t interested in it, we believe our past transgressions disqualify us from participating in a God-written love story, or we just want the control.
In the words of someone I know;
“I am aware that was my problem. Although I didn’t specifically dispute God’s involvement in writing my love story, I wasn’t sure if I wanted Him to do so because I felt I could do a better job…”
Absurd, right?
I mean, consider that it was God who first established the concept of love and marriage. He implanted in us the need for human interaction, and who better to satiate that need than the Creator of romance Himself?’’
But that’s not how she saw it.
She always believed that whatever she offered to God, He only wants it to use against her, including her love life. She was worried what would happen if she handed Him the pen and asked Him to write her love story. When that’s so absurd and so contrary to God’s nature.
But, how she handed it over to God was the game changer. She said, after she had taken matters into her hands and messed up her love life, she finally went down on her knees
“Lord, I don’t think I’m the one to have control of this area of my life. I don’t believe I will ever be able to create a happy, romantic love narrative for myself. You put the pieces, the story, the details together in Your own perfect time and way without my manipulation. ‘’
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love – 1 John 4:18
Let’s look at the life of our senior pastors, Sam and Nike Adeyemi, theirs is a love story written by God and it is such a great example of how God’s hand writing is so much better than ours.
Think of how much you can lose if you don’t hand over your love story to Him. We can trust God when we let Him make the decision for us.
