Frank, oh Frank!

We’re excited to wrap up our ‘The Quest’ story series, featuring our Star Boy, Frank. We won’t keep you waiting any longer!

The Quest 7: Frank, oh Frank!

Frank was on a personal retreat at Higher Grounds Camp site, Ikorodu. The past 24-hours had been straight out of a movie.

Two days ago, he hit ‘send’ on that email with the extra zero.

What happened afterwards had been a miracle!

When Mr. Mark called him into his office, he was too sure his inflated costs had been discovered and he was about to lose his job, and probably go to jail.

However, what he heard was completely different and unexpected…

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of labor and productivity has just been ‘retired’. The new Perm Sec had ordered a pause of all the current projects while external auditors were brought in to carry out a forensic analysis of three of the five key projects, including the Building project BCM Holdings had handled the past almost two months.

Wait!

Architect M.A Tanko was the new Perm. Sec. of the Ministry and everyone knew that his integrity was impeccable. If he had ordered this forensic analysis, then Frank was sure his ‘extra zero’ would have been found out.

‘Oh my goodness, what have I done?’ Frank thought, shaking inside!

His Boss continued without noticing his nervousness.

As a result of this unexpected turn of events, for the next two months, there was no project for Frank to work on, at least until the analysis was over and they were re-awarded the contract. Considering the phenomenal job he had done so far, Mr. M was sure they would find nothing amiss and in the meantime was giving Frank and the team two weeks off.

Frank rushed back to his laptop as soon as he left his Boss. He was a dead man walking. He quickly opened his ‘sent’ folder to check it out again but it was not there. Only for him to realize that the email stayed in ‘outbox’.

It never delivered!

His tears were immediate and uncontrollable.

Frank wept!

Then it started to come together the dream he had now had three times.

‘Beware of idols!!!’

In his desperation to escape the poverty of his past, he had made an idol of money and was willing to compromise to make it.

Frank wept!

He had missed service and his unit commitments at his church, Daystar, and even some of his relationships had started to suffer, including that with his neighbors, the Oke’s.

Frank wept!

Yes, he was ambitious and it was OK to be ambitious, but he had crossed the boundaries. He had been an honest, hardworking, and diligent man all his life, but look at how close he came to fraud, just because the opportunity presented itself.

Frank wept!

‘Money is important, make clean money’.

That phrase from a sermon by Pastor Sam Adeyemi came back to him and he knew it was time to go back and watch the entire series on ‘The Ultimate Resurrection.

Everytime he heard a Pastor announce in church that Daystar messages are ‘available on demand’. he didn’t think much of it. After all, he was in church so there was no need to go back and re-watch, but today, he was incredibly grateful for YouTube sermons available on demand.

He remembered the FREEDOM DAY drama in the same month. How he thought ‘freedom’ would come when he made more money, but today, he realized that the path he was almost treading was bondage. He was already free.

Free from his past.
Free from fear.
Free from everything.

He had placed so much focus on this life alone, forgetting the life after now. Like Pastor Sam said, when we think of life beyond the now, we make better quality decisions today.

Frank had been given a second chance by an act of divine intervention.

He packed up, said good bye to his colleagues and started his journey home.

Three hours later, he had checked into a room in the Higher grounds camp site.

After freshening up, he got out his laptop and journal, went on YouTube and typed
Daystar Ultimate Resurrection

He would not check out until he had made things right again with God.

The end!

Wow!

Thank you for riding out the journey of Frank with us, and double thank you to those of us who have engaged with this story by sharing your feedback.

We are still happy to hear from you, but even more, we want you to be hearers and doers of the Word we hear weekly at Daystar. We also want you to stay connected to community. Live your life like it doesn’t end here, because it does not. When it’s all over on this side, with the everyday decisions you are making today, where would your ultimate resurrection be?

Don’t be so surprised! Indeed, the time is coming when all the dead in their graves will hear the voice of God’s Son, and they will rise again. Those who have done good will rise to experience eternal life, and those who have continued in evil will rise to experience judgment. John 5: 28-29 NLT

It’s the concluding part of the June series on ‘The Ultimate Resurrection’ and we look forward to worshiping with you on-site at our Oregun centre, or online here.

The time is 6pm WAT.

Shalom Shalom!
