Top Of Mind Awareness. Human needs are insatiable, there will always be something we need or want but when our desires make us lose focus of God then we are doing ourselves a disservice. You are at the top of God’s mind and He should also be at the top of your mind. God must be first in our lives, and we can do this by honouring Him and worshipping Him. Praise has effect on God, you and Satan.
How you can put God at the top of your thoughts
- Praise God because praise is an instruction: (Psalm 100:1-5 NIV). It is an instruction from above to praise God. Sometimes we look at our situations and question how we can praise Him when things are not working but it is because we have shifted our attention from Him that is why we can see the things that are not working.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT)
God is telling us not to worry about anything, He has made all things good for us even when we think that they aren’t. Create a gratitude list and see how much God has done in your life. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV).
- Give thanks to God in all circumstances the good, the bad and the ugly: It is we that classify our circumstances into good or bad, in God’s plan everything is part of the design. Praise changes your attitude and helps you see the sovereignty of God in everything, and once you understand this then you can be assured that all things are working for your good even if you don’t understand them in the moment. God is bound by His word, He is the beginning and the end, it doesn’t matter what happens in between. If He gave you His word at the beginning, He will take you to the end.
- Praise is an insurance: God preserves us when we praise Him (Psalm 8:2 EASY). Praising God guarantees that no one can touch you because praise commands the presence of God and when you put God first He protects and preserves you. (Acts 16:25-26NIV). One of the challenges we have as Christians is we allow our environment determine our behavior, we cannot use flesh and blood strategies to wage spiritual battles.
